These gauntlets were made for a Halloween costume. They are inspired by the gauntlets worn by the Nazgul in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The improvised lames are glued to leather strips sewn to each glove along the length of each finger and in strips across the back of the hand (they are glued because riveting was not an option). I patterned the lames and cut them from Mountain Dew cans (they are sharp). The curve was achieved by wrapping each piece around a highlighter, and the ridges in the pieces across the hand were done “free-form.”
